Above Average and Maker Studios Become TruTV’s “Late Night Snack”

Comedy formats are hot, hot, hot again, as the appetite for laughter is clearly peaking. TruTV has picked up a new half hour comedy series, “Late Night Snack,” with episodes produced by Maker Studios and Two Trick as well as digital comedy studio Above Average. “Late Night Snack,” which is set to premiere on Thursday, March 3rd at 11 p.m., includes 10 episodes in total. Each episode is produced by a different company.

Above Average has syndicated an episode from its popular taxi cab love show starring Alec Baldwin, aptly titled “Alec Baldwin’s Love Ride.” The series, which premiered initially on Vessel last year, brings couples together with Baldiwn, a “renowned International love expert” to counsel couples as they travel by taxi from destination A to B.

Maker Studios, in conjuntion with traditional production company Two Trick Pony, developed and produced an episode called “Hope and Randy” (working title). The short is a rom-com about two 24-year olds in their first relationship and the sweet and awkwad sexual explorations that accompany young love.

Of the 10 episodes, Above Average and Maker Studios were the only digital production shingles represented on the order. Two Trick Pony has produced content for both Above Average and Maker Studios, in addition to their own independent projects.
