Amazon Prime UK Sets Premiere Date for ‘Betas’

By Sahil Patel

Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service in the UK, which was until recently called LoveFilm, will premiere Amazon Studios’ original comedy “Betas” on March 14.

Written by Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard, “Betas” tells the story of four wannabe Silicon Valley entrepreneurs as they develop a new dating and social app and try to win over investors. Stars include Ed Begley, Jr. (“Arrested Development”), Joe Dinicol, Karan Soni, Jon Daly, and Charlie Saxton.

“Betas” is executive produced by Emmy-winners Alan Freedland and Alan Cohen, and Oscar-nominee Michael London. Michael Lehmann directed and produced the show, which runs for 11 half-hour episodes.

This is the second Amazon Studios original series to debut in the UK (and the US), following its political comedy “Alpha House.” Three kids shows, “Annebots,” “Creative Galaxy,” and “Tumbleaf,” are set to follow in both markets later this year.
