Additionally, Awesomeness showcased what’s next for their brands including AwesomenessTV, a destination for original programming for the global Gen Z audience; Awesomeness Films, the young adult focused movie studio; DreamWorksTV, the #1 major kids entertainment brand; and Awestruck, one of the fastest growing digital video brand for millennial moms.
“It’s no coincidence that media companies are now falling over themselves to connect with Gen Z and their emerging influence,” said Brett Bouttier, President of Awesomeness. “Yet, as we’ve learned in five years of building Awesomeness into the leading media brand with them, Gen Z expects more than superficial attempts to ‘engage’ them. They want to build a relationship — on their terms. Our new and returning slate of programming — across all the platforms they use — reflects the unique, evolving relationship that Awesomeness has with Gen Z.”
Awesomeness will also attempt to take on the challenge of Gen Z- focused news content with the launch of Awesomeness News. This new editorial content will focus on the socially conscious issues that effect Gen Z including politics, the environment, and social justice. Awesomeness News will be available on all AwesomenessTV platforms.
The multi-platform media company has also teamed up with Hollister Co, a global retail brand, to launch an original series and integrated campaign aimed at inspiring the Gen Z audience through live events, an original soundtrack with music videos, and purpose-built brand integrations into existing AwesomenessTV formats. “This is Summer” is set to premiere on May 20 on AwesomenessTV’s YouTube channel.
Awestruck, one of the fastest growing digital video brands for millennial moms, which has grown 5x year-over- year in their audience base, announced that Emmy-nominated showrunner Carrie Franklin has been hired as the Head of Awestruck. In her new role, Franklin will be developing a new slate of programming that will attempt a fresh approach to the different aspects of motherhood. Awestruck has also signed Grammy-winning singer, actress and author Kelly Rowland to their network.
Awesomeness was founded in 2012 by Brian Robbins (Smallville, Varsity Blues, All That) and Joe Davola (In Living Color, Smallville, MTV Networks). Investors include Comcast, Verizon and Hearst.
