Closing its Digital Division Hasn’t Stopped Bunim/Murray Productions From Launching a YouTube Channel

Bunim/Murray Productions (BMP), best known for series like “Born This Way,” “The Real World,” and “Bill Nye Saves the World,” have partnered with digital star and mom, GloZell Green. Together they are launching GloBugz!, a new children’s brand and entertainment channel dedicated to educating and engaging pre-schoolers, on YouTube.
The news comes just 5 months after Bunim Murray folded its digital division back into main house.
“Having a digital department is a luxury if you are willing to utilize it to experiment, incubate programming ideas and use it as a creative lab of sorts,” BMP’s John Roberts told VideoInk back in February. “The ROI is challenging, especially when you are comparing it to traditional linear television production.”
But the lack of a digital department isn’t stopping BMP from launching GloBugz!.
“The BMP brand is all about innovation and paving new paths in entertainment,” said Gil Goldschein, Chairman and CEO, Bunim/Murray Productions. “And on the heels of such trailblazing programming as ‘Earth Live’ on Nat Geo and ‘Bill Nye Saves the World’ on Netflix, BMP continues to be at the forefront of the next wave of entertainment.”
“GloBugz” is Executive Produced by Gil Goldschein (“Born This Way,” “Bill Nye Saves the World), Patty Ivins, Nidhi Lucky Handa and GloZell Green. GloZell’s other channels include her main channel, GloMamaG and “Glo All In” on Awestruck (go90).
