DanceOn Parent Company Izo Hires Jason Hargrove to Head Original Programming

DanceOn parent company Izo announced today that it has hired Jason Hargrove as head of original programming. He will work out of Izo’s Los Angeles offices and report directly to CEO Amanda Taylor.

“Jason is the perfect fit to build and execute our multi-platform programming strategy” said Taylor in a statement. “His deep experience in the world of music entertainment lines up with our goals to expand our brand and content strategy into new areas of music.”

In his new role, Hargrove will lead Izo’s production of long and short-form content, both scripted and unscripted, manage programming partnerships, and oversee the rollout of channels and content on new platforms. He will also oversee DanceOn’s programming slate, which includes 25 original series produced for Verizon’s Go90 mobile-first platform. Series returning for additional seasons include “Chachi’s World,” “Every Single Step,” “Dance-Off Juniors” and “Dance Showdown,” set to air this fall.

Hargrove comes to izo from Fuse Media, where, as VP of original content for Fuse’s FM channel, he oversaw the development and production of such shows as “Tiësto’s In The Booth,” starring the deejay Tiësto. Prior to Fuse Media, Hargrove was a programming and talent consultant at Machinima and a senior manager at MTV Networks, where he worked on development and production of new cross-platform projects in the lifestyle and music verticals.

DanceOn was founded in the fall of 2010 by Taylor in partnership with Madonna, Guy Oseary and serial digital media entrepreneur Allen DeBevoise. At its NewFront presentation in New York in May, it was announced that it was being restructured with DanceOn as a division of new parent company Izo, reflecting the fact that it was “not just about dance anymore,” according to Taylor, and would now have an increasing focus on music.
