David Letterman Steps Out of Retirement For New Netflix Series

David Letterman is back, but this time fans won’t need a TV antenna to watch. The former “Late Night” and “Late Show” host has signed a deal to host six episodes of a soon-to-be named series for Netflix.
The show would allow Letterman to combine “two interests for which he is renowned: in-depth conversations with extraordinary people, and in-the-field segments expressing his curiosity and humor,” the streaming giant said in a press release.
“I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix,” expressed Letterman. “Here’s what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely.”
Though not common for the streaming service, this talk show wouldn’t be its first. Netflix is already home to Chelsea Handler’s weekly talk show, which recently changed its format to include more in-depth interviews, and bigger field pieces. Of course, there’s no telling how well the show is doing because Netflix won’t release viewing data, but it hasn’t been canceled yet which is a good sign for the format.
