How They Made YouTube Red’s ‘Fight of the Living Dead: Experiment 88’
If you want to find out which one of your favorite (or most-hated) YouTubers gets ripped to pieces by the undead in the new reality-competition series “Fight of the Living Dead: Experiment 88,” you’ll have to subscribe to YouTube Red and watch the show on the BlackBoxTV channel.
But if you have questions about how they cast it, where they shot it, the zombie to YouTuber ratio and the behind the scenes techniques employed by the producers to keep contestants and viewers on-edge, as well as plans for a sequel, you’ll find answers in the video below.
To get those answers, VideoInk went to the series premiere party at YouTube Space LA, as well as a press event earlier in the day at the Escape Hotel in Hollywood, and spoke to the show’s executive producers, Kevin Abrams and Jamie Denenberg of Alpine Labs, as well as cast members Shanna Malcolm, Tré Melvin (ThisIsACommentary) and Dennis Roady (howtoPRANKitup).
“Fight of the Living Dead: Experiment 88” also stars Vitaly Zdorovetskiy (VitalyzdTV), Yousef Saleh Erakat (FouseyTUBE), Rahat Hossain (Magic of Rahat), JC Caylen, Brittani Louise Taylor, Raya (GirlGoneGamer) and Brandon Bowen.
You wouldn’t know it from most of the press coverage for the series, but “Experiment 88” is actually the second edition of “Fight of the Living Dead.” The first was shot way back in the spring of 2014 with a cast of eight YouTubers — Joey Graceffa, Meghan Camarena (Strawburry17), Iman Crosson (Alphacat), Justine Ezarik (a.k.a. iJustine) Olga Kay, Sam Pepper and PrankvsPrank‘s Jesse Wellens and Jeana Smith.
