Marlon Wayans Getting ‘Naked’ for Netflix with Regina Hall

Netflix announced today that it has greenlit the feature “Naked,” starring Marlon Wayans (“White Chicks,” “Scary Movie”), which is scheduled to begin principal photography in Charleston, South Carolina, in October.

It will premiere globally on Netflix in 2017.

Based on the Swedish film “Naken,” the romantic comedy reunites Wayans with “Scary Movie” co-star Regina Hall (“Think Like a Man,” “About Last Night”) and Michael Tiddes, who directed the actor in “Fifty Shades of Black” (2016) and “A Haunted House” (2013) and its sequel (2014).

“The response I’ve gotten from fans worldwide to my films on Netflix has been overwhelming, and I’m thrilled to be working with them on an original film,” said Wayans in a statement. “Also, I’m excited to be working with Regina again.”

Written by Cory Koller, Wayans and Rick Alvarez, “Naked” has a “Groundhog Day”-esque plot that has Wayans’ character, Rob Anderson, a charming man-child, waking up on his wedding day, naked in an elevator, reliving the hour before the ceremony over and over again.

Wayans is also producing the film with Alvarez (“White Chicks”), Todd Garner (“The True Memoirs of an International Assassin”) and Ryan Lewis (“Chosen”). Sean Robins, Michael Flynn and Paul Hanson are serving as executive producers.

This fall, Wayans will be seen in the NBC sitcom “Marlon,” produced by Universal TV, 3Arts and Wayans Brothers Entertainment. Loosely based on Wayans life, it focuses on an inappropriate-but-loving dad trying to co-parent his children with his polar opposite ex-wife. It is scheduled to premiere in November.
