NextVR Live Streaming Bundesliga German Soccer League Kick-off with Fox Sports
NextVR announced today that it will broadcast the opening match of the 2016/2017 season of German soccer league Bundesliga live in virtual reality from Allianz Arena in Munich on Aug. 26. The live stream of the match between Bayern München and Werder Bremen will be available in select locations around the globe beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The action will be captured by seven cameras, providing viewers with perspectives from the stands, along the sidelines, midfield and behind the goal.
The Bundesliga opener is the fifth major live virtual reality broadcast presented this year as part of NextVR’s five-year deal with Fox Sports, following the Daytona 500, a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) title fight, the Big East college basketball tournament and the U.S. Open golf championship.
Founded in 2009 by producer/director/cinematographer D.J. Roller and digital imaging/3D tech vet David Cole, NextVR has more than 26 patents granted or pending for the capture, compression, transmission and display of virtual reality content.
Earlier this month, NextVR closed a $80 million series B financing round led major players in the Asian entertainment, content and technology markets, including CITIC Guoan Information Industry, NetEase, CMC Holdings, SoftBank Corp., VMS Investments Group, Founder H Fund and China Assets (Holdings) Limited. The round also included new U.S. investors, such as Spectrum 28, as well as all the investors from its $30.5 million Series A funding round last November, including Formation 8, Time Warner Investments, Comcast Ventures, Peter Guber, RSE Ventures, The Madison Square Garden Company and Dick Clark Productions.
