Project Greenlight Digital Studios Names #Josh Web Series Contest Winner
Project Greenlight Digital Studios announced today that it has chosen the winner of its #GetTheGreenLight web series contest — “#Josh” by directors Joshua Jean-Baptiste and Edson Jean.
As the winners, the filmmakers will receive $25,000 to develop a digital series based on their video pitch. Set in Miami, “#Josh” tells the tale of a chaste, digitally-dependent twenty-something who is forced to coexist with his promiscuous, problematic cousin.
Project Greenlight Digital Studios was launched in November by Adaptive Studios in conjunction Pearl Street Films and Miramax, the producers of HBO’s “Project Greenlight” series. Its goal is to find creative opportunities for emerging filmmakers through ongoing competitions and other channels, including a marketplace where brands can engage with talent, and access to representation and multi-platform distribution opportunities.
“Project Greenlight Digital Studios was created in part to help find exceptional filmmaking talent by digging deep into communities we couldn’t access before,” said Brittany Turner, VP of digital video at Adaptive Studios, in a statement. “’#Josh’ is a perfect example of this.”
