T-Mobile Pitches Free Major League Baseball to Subscribers

T-Mobile announced today that it has re-upped its pact with Major League Baseball for three more years, and, as part of the deal, it is offering customers a full, free year’s subscription to MLB.TV Premium.

T-Mobile Simple Choice customers on qualifying plans can sign up for MLB.TV Premium ($109.99 value) during opening Week, April 3–10. It allows subscribers to watch every out-of-market regular season game live on their T-Mobile devices. It also comes with a free subscription to At Bat Premium ($19.99 value), which includes a choice of home or away broadcasts and multi-game viewing and. It amounts to some 7,000 hours of live streaming MLB action, which customers can watch without extra data charges through T-Mobile’s Binge On feature.

Binge On was launched last November, allowing T-Mobile subscribers with qualifying plans will be able to stream video from 24 services, including Netflix, HBO NOW, Hulu, Showtime, HBO Go, HBO Now, Watch ESPN, Fox Sports, Go90 and Sling TV, without incurring any additional data charges.

As part of its deal with MLB,T-Mobile will be the title sponsor of both the Home Run Derby during All-Star Week and the Junior Home Run Derby, a new youth competition for boys and girls.

Competitor Verizon Wireless cut a similar deal with the NFL this past season that allowed its customers to stream games on their smartphones at no extra charge.
