Twitch to Live-Stream Pokémon Go Fest in New Partnership with Niantic

The first official Pokemon Go event, which has been dubbed Pokémon Go Fest, is taking place this upcoming weekend in Chicago. But for fans who weren’t able to swoop on a ticket for the event, Twitch has you covered. The gaming focused social video platform has partnered with Niantic, the developer of Pokémon Go, to live stream the festival for all its members to watch.

Attendees, both at the event and at home, will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including three “Challenge Windows” that have players work together to catch a certain amount of Pokemon. Players who successfully complete the challenges will unlock bonus perks for all users to enjoy. Players in the UK will also be able to participate in a different event hosted in the city of Chester.
Ahead of this weekend’s festival, which is the first official live event that has been planned for the popular mobile AR game, Niantic will be rolling out a new update for Pokemon Go. While the changes aren’t huge, players will notice new features like being able to feed their Gym Pokemon from afar.
Niantic hasn’t said much about the details or schedule for the event, only that it runs from 10 a.m. CT to 7 p.m. CT on Saturday July 22. Fans can tune in to Pokémon Go’s Twitch channel to catch the action.
