Vimeo Opening Television Store with Lionsgate Content, Launching Business Plan

Video hosting platform Vimeo announced today that mini-major studio Lionsgate will be the exclusive launch partner licensing content to its new television store, which will be available in more than 150 countries around the world.

Under the terms of the deal, Lionsgate will supply its entire catalog of close to 80 television series, including “Orange is the New Black,” “Casual” (pictured), “The Royals,” “Mad Men,” “Weeds,” “Nurse Jackie,” “Boss,” “Blue Mountain State” and “Manhattan.”

Lionsgate movie titles will be added to the service for rental in the U.S. subsequent to its official launch on Oct. 18 at the MIPCOM 2016 Global Market in Cannes.

“[Lionsgate is] the first of many top Hollywood studios we expect to attract in the months to come,” said Barry Diller, chairman and senior executive of Vimeo parent company IAC, in a statement.

Today, Vimeo also launched a new membership plan, Vimeo Business, designed to serve the needs of small businesses, startups, agencies, educational institutions, nonprofits, and other organizations using video to reach customers

Priced at $599/year (ten times more than Vimeo Plus), Vimeo Business gives customers 5TB of storage, unlimited bandwidth and the ability to add company branding and logo to Vimeo’s embedded 4K Ultra HD player, along with clickable calls-to-action and email capture forms that can be imported into email marketing services such as MailChimp, Campaign Monitor and Constant Contact.
