Formed by the merger of digital studios Alloy Media and Break Media in 2013, Defy Media currently operates a portfolio of web entertainment brands including Smosh, Shut Up! Cartoons, Clevver Media, Smosh Games, The Escapist,Teen.com, Gurl, The Gloss, Crushable, Break.com, Screen Junkies, CagePotato, Chickipedia, HolyTaco, MadeMan, AllLeftTurns, TuVez and GameFront. With so many brands and outlets under its umbrella, Defy has been able to create a wide variety of content, from one-off short-form videos to ongoing series that run the gamut from style to gaming.

For today’s Web Series Wednesday, we selected five properties from Defy that cover some of the studio’s many genres and verticals.

“Honest Trailers”

Easily the hottest property under Defy’s Screen Junkies, umbrella “Honest Trailers” gleefully dismantles Hollywood movie tropes for laughs. If you really want a how-to that you should try at home, then “Man At Arms” is probably the answer for you. Every week a team of trained blacksmiths, crafstsmen and fabriactors come together to build real life versions of the iconic fantasy weapons used in your favorite movies and TV shows.
