Viewfinder: How to contribute

Viewfinder aims to engage colleagues in ongoing dialogues about museum education today, by combining the speed and timeliness of a blog with the rigor of a peer-reviewed journal.

Each issue is thematic and comprised of three articles written by museum educators. Articles are reflective, showcasing ongoing consideration of theory, pedagogy, and professional practice as related to the issue’s theme. Each is reviewed by a Peer Reviewer, who encourages the Author to deepen their reflections and connections across the field, and are copy edited by the Editorial Board. (Read more about Viewfinder here.)

There are a number of ways to get involved:

  • Suggest a theme: What do you want to see in Viewfinder? Tell us using this public Google Spreadsheet. We’ll create word clouds from this document to show popular topics, so don’t be afraid to add the same theme multiple times to “vote” for it.
  • Author: We invite museum educators with a range of experiences and backgrounds to propose an article via this Google Form. Look at the above Spreadsheet to see what topics colleagues are interested in. We challenge authors to reflect on how your professional practice, pedagogy, and theoretical knowledge is evolving and growing, rather than simply showcasing best practices or describing a program.
  • Reviewer: We welcome reviewers from any background and at any point in their museum career. Reviewers are not responsible for copy editing, but rather for encouraging an Author to deepen their thinking and connections across the field through questions and conversation. If you are well-versed in a certain area, especially one that aligns with a popular theme in the above Google Spreadsheet, we highly encourage you to consider being a Reviewer. Please let us know you’re interested using this Google Form.
