Gotta say it. There are still no fish.

This can’t be an oversight. Are the fish going to save us?

The crabs are now also toxic to humans. Also they’re vent crabs, so how are they on land. Or, for that matter…but that’s a small scientific detail.

Tina has quit Hovestad. Charlie is investigating the footage, and discovers a strange signal. And temperatures rising. And now we start to see the connection. Worse, the ice worms are causing tiny little earthquakes…for now.

Of course, they don’t stay tiny and little. There’s a tsunami. Which hits the Shetlands (not going to be much left there, just saying) and Scandinavia. Dang big tsunami that. The geography here is a tiny bit shaky. Specifically, I’m not 100% sure the German producers know just how far north the Shetland Isles are.

A lot of people don’t, so I’ll forgive it.

But I’m assuming the signal means it’s aliens. It could also be the wrath of God, which two of the characters think.

Oh, and Tina gets washed away in the tsunami, alas. Mostly because she gets abandoned. People are assholes in the face of disaster, at times.

Halfway through and the writers bring all of the threads together.

It’s aliens.

We know it’s aliens. But they don’t…and they think they brought it on themselves.

(There are no direct mentions of climate change even though this is being marketed as an “eco-thriller” so maybe they’re going after overfishing? I still think it’s aliens. Those who have already watched it can laugh).
