The Porsche 918 Spyder is the tastiest thing to come out of Stuttgart since the Carrera GT. The 918 supercar was born when Porsche decided it’s built enough of practical, everyday supercars (read, 911s) and realised the world finally needed a Carrera GT successor. As the delivery dates get closer for this 770bhp hybrid supercar, the brochure seems to have leaked on to the Internet.

What we can now see is a host of standard paint finishes and yes, the Martini Racing livery is a reality too although expect to cough up the price of a 911 for that or some exclusive liquid metal paint finishes. The 918 Spyder can also be had with a carbonfibre targa roof. The biggest reveal though is the interior that looks befitting for a futuristic supercar. The centre console is a modern interpretation of the Carrera GT’s. It’s like an elongated iPad, covered in glossy glass and complete with a couple of rotary knobs for the audio and climate control. There’s an abundance of brushed steel / aluminium and leather in the cabin.

The multifunction steering wheel has just too many buttons and looks like a Ferrari’s Mannetino, although that could mean less stalks behind the wheel. Also seen are three individual chrome-rimmed pods for clocks, in place of Porsche’s trademark five faces.

Another interesting jargon on the brochure is the Weissach Pack that includes (ball-crushing) six-point harnesses, brake upgrades and a fair amount of striptease to to shed as mush as 100 kilos. Just for the records, the 918 Spyder is powered by a 4.6-litre V8 engine that develops around 580bhp. It is supported by two electric motors delivering an additional 280bhp to the front wheels. The transmission is via a 7-speed PDK (dual clutch) gearbox feeding power to the rear axle. Two electric motors drive the front wheels directly through a fixed ratio while a third electric motor is connected to the transmission and gives additional power to the rear wheels. The 918 Spyder is capable of sprinting to 100km/h in just under 2.9 seconds and can go all the way up to 330km/h.
