How To Find Your Identity In One Simple Step

Having a sense of identity is a crucial part of getting by in our world. Who you are, what you do, who you sleep with, your political affiliation, and so on. People have gone to great lengths to figure out exactly who they are. If you need any proof, go ahead and look up the tons and tons of ridiculous gender identities we’re all expected to be aware of now. Lucky for you, I have the answer you seek.
It doesn’t matter.
It’s high time you stopped searching for who you think you ought to be and just start being. Living in Los Angeles or New York does not make you an American cultural phenomenon. Geographical location simply cannot do that for a person, and you should stop assuming it does. Who you sleep with or exactly how you bump genitals(or don’t bump them) is of little relevance to anything. What you do for a living may be glamorous or maybe your job is down right shit, but it doesn’t matter. Of course, this is all easier said than done.
Without an identity, you cannot place yourself in the world. Our minds categorize and compartmentalize everything, including ourselves. This is simply our nature, and we cannot change that. So if we can’t reshape our nature, then what’s to be done? How do we stop this incessant search for who we are?
Stay aware of yourself as often as possible. Reminding yourself that you are a free individual that is in a constantly evolving state. Who you considered yourself to be 10 years ago most likely isn’t who you are today. And if you are the same person today as you were 10 years ago, please leave you’re very boring. So, this is where I say something cynical and try to convince you that it’s actually a great tool for surviving everyday life.
Not only does your identity not matter, but neither does anything else.
Nothing, whether it’s tangible or not, has any inherent value. You are the only one who decides what matters in your day to day life. If everyone valued everything the exact same way, politics sure would be much simpler. We’re all entitled to our own subjective views.
Such as this dress. What do you think this is worth?

If you guessed $21,500 then you’d be right! Personally, I believe this is an absurd waste of money, and thus I value this at a whopping zero dollars. That thing is hideous. But maybe you love wearing clothes with weird tigers, pineapples, snakes, and birds on them. In which case, I suggest you click this link here.
Don’t get hung up on who you think you ought to be, it doesn’t matter.
Don’t let titles or items define who you are, those things don’t matter either.
You choose what matters to you.
Unless you enjoy obsessing over your identity, then go ahead and keep obsessing.
