On 24 May, during technology and innovations festival LOGIN, Lithuania’s leading telecommunications company Telia introduces mentoring program ‘Telia HUB’. The initiative is dedicated to people that already have specific technology ideas. For the program participants, Telia will provide IT infrastructure and free advice by experts in various fields.

From now on, the new mentorship program is open to everybody, who are thinking to create or already own the technology business. Telia will provide the necessary technological conditions to test products or services, provide access to the cloud computer service and other infrastructure resources. The mentoring program unites more than 20 Telia’s experts in various fields, such as technology, business development, finance, law, human resources and communications. They will advise entrepreneurs in during live meetings and remotely.

Kęstutis Šliužas, Telia Lithuania CEO, says that the company have had plans for the mentoring program for some time. And the festival LOGIN has been selected for introduction on purpose, because it is visited annually by many young people.

“During this technology and innovation festival, along with all Telia’s team we raise a new topic — we talk about the gigabit society, which we want to create for ourselves and for future generations. This is a society, in which all citizens have access to 1GB per second speed Internet wherever they are. In such a society, continuous communication is ensured not only between people, but also between things, digital divide is lower and access to public services is better”, comments p. Šliužas.

Entrepreneurship will be one of the accelerators of this evolution, he says.

“For the gigabit society to prosper, we will need new business ideas and solutions. We will have to take risks, to experiment and constantly look for new business opportunities”, says Telia’s CEO.

It seems that a similar view is shared by all Telia Group.

Telia Company, following the example of such companies as Google, founded the innovation and development division called Division X. Brendan Ives became the leader of this division. Sweden has put together a team of 80 people, and representatives have been appointed in all Telia companies abroad. In Lithuania, the representative is Mantas Goštautas, Telia‘s business development manager.

According to Mr. Ives, Telia‘s Division X is oriented towards partnerships and mutual activities with startups and technology companies in the telco sector.
