Viral content platform Bored Panda joins Vilnius Tech Park community
Bored Panda, the panda-friendly, viral content creating web magazine, is joining the Vilnius Tech Park community. The startup, launched in Lithuanian in 2009, is busy filling the internet with creative posts, amazing artwork, fun picture galleries and articles in English and Spanish.
A viral content machine
Bored Panda’s platform, created when its founder, Tomas Banisauskas, decided he wanted to only write about interesting subjects, allows different artists and creators to turn their stories and creations into must-read viral content. Currently, it has 25 million monthly readers and over 4 million followers on Facebook.
The Bored Panda journey began with Mr Banisauskas writing about unusual success stories others had achieved, the most memorable of which included One Red Paperclip and Milliondollarhomepage.com. Examples like these were what later inspired him to create Bored Panda.
Bored Panda works as a platform where artists and other creative people can share engaging content, as Mr Banisauskas explains. “Sometimes we find interesting artists and invite them to publish their work on our platform. Others find our platform themselves, and since anybody can post on it, they add post their work themselves,” he says. “That’s the main idea behind the platform — a place, where creative people can post their works and become more popular.”
A natural fit for creatives
And this is not the only way Bored Panda serves the creative crowd. It’s also a go-to site for people seeking inspiration, or who, as the name suggests, are just a bit bored.
Clearly, creativity is at the core of the Bored Panda philosophy. So, Mr Banisauskas and his team believe that, because they’ll be surrounded by other creative people, Vilnius Tech Park is natural fit for them. With neighbours who are creating new technologies, on top of the latest innovations, and passionate about their projects, the Bored Panda team won’t be short of inspiration. “Vilnius Tech Park is a great place to work,” says Mr Banisauskas, “to be with people who are dedicated and constantly looking for more.”
