VIMworld Ascendant Base integration Phase I is now Live
VIMworld is a revolutionary gamified personal finance platform that is transforming how we manage and interact with our investments and financial assets. Virtual Investment Minions (VIMs) are your pets and steadfast partners who make your investment and gaming journey incredibly fun and interesting. The current VIMworld feature offering not only allows you to feed your VIMs tokens to tier them up and earn a variety of rewards, but also to game with VIMs in VIMglory (our brand new autobattler), and use them to incubate EGGs to hatch one of a huge assortment of rewarding Companions.
Today marks the exciting first step of VIMworld’s expansion to Base, a fast growing Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) Chain.
It is now possible to connect a Base wallet to VIMworld Ascendant.
In the near future, buying and feeding VIMs will be possible on Base, as well as all the other VIMworld Ascendant features with more to come. Over time we will connect to Base ‘Asset Oracles’ to provide yield options. Find out about Asset Oracles in our recently renewed whitepaper.
About Base
Base is designed to offer a safe, low-cost and developer-friendly way to build on-chain. It is an L2 built on OP Stack in collaboration with Optimism. Base is being incubated by Coinbase, one of the largest and most regulation-compliant crypto exchanges and a true giant of the industry.
The Base mainnet was officially opened to the general public on August 9th 2023. Since its launch, the Ethereum layer-2 has seen its ecosystem expand considerably. There are now more than 300 applications operating on the chain — the largest of which (Aerodrome AMM) now has a TVL in excess of $500 million. In total, Base has a TVL of over $7 billion and around 2.5 million unique active wallets, making it one of the fastest-growing Ethereum L2s.
Base does not have a native token. Gas fees are settled in Base native $ETH. To use Base, you need to bridge or otherwise obtain $ETH in your wallet on the chain to use as gas. Gas fees are much lower than Ethereum at typically less than $0.01 per transaction.
How to get $ETH to your Base wallet
Option 1. Bridge $ETH to Base
Several Bridge options exist to get $ETH on to Base:

Option 2. Withdraw to Base from a Centralized Exchange
Many exchanges including Coinbase, Binance, and Bitrue allow direct withdrawal of $ETH to Base Chain for a minimal withdrawal fee. Users may find this, cheaper, more intuitive and more secure than using cross-chain bridge facilities.
Connecting on Base
To switch to Base, use the chain toggle at the top right side of the VIMworld Ascendant website.
Nufinetes extension wallet has recently added Base as a compatible chain. VIMworld Ascendant also now supports the Coinbase wallet extension.

The Start of Something New
Although today is just the small first step of making our inroad onto Base, it is an important sign of things to come, as VIMworld continues to execute on our plan set forth in the whitepaper to strategically grow the number of compatible chains and asset oracles as we increase the capabilities, utilities, and the smartness of our VIMs!
