Iris van Gelder has done an amazing job redefining the fashion collage. For our inaugural issue, she reworked some of our editorial photography into an homage to a classic cover by Erwin Blumenfeld from 1950. Please enjoy three exclusive collages, as well as a selection of her other work, revamped completely after her own vision into something, might we say, magical.

Erwin Blumenfeld

is one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. His radical, avantgarde photography redefined his entire medium. His breakthrough came in 1941, having moved to New York to escape Nazi persecution. Producing hundreds of covers, he set the tone that defined fashion photography throughout the 1940’s and 1950’s. Here, Iris van Gelder has transformed an editorial image into a special collage paying tribute to one of his most noteworthy covers dating back to 1950.
