At Vinterior, we love to browse beautiful interiors and find design ideas online and in magazines. Browsing photos of perfectly styled interiors is inspiring but can be frustrating if the bright and immaculate room on the picture is too far away from the reality of your own space.

Because we also love London, its creativity, its diversity and above all its inhabitants, we had this idea: why not give you a tour of real Londoners’ homes?

In our Interiors Inside series, we will ask people of London to let us in their home and show us how they designed the house or apartment they live in. They will also share with us their favourite destinations for decor, food and culture in the capital.

Young Family of Three in Holloway, N7, London

For the first post of our Interiors Inside series, we visited Leslie, JV and their 15-month daughter Violette. Londoners since 2010, Leslie and JV purchased their 2-bedroom apartment in an up-and-coming area between Holloway and Highbury and Islington three years ago.

Tell us about your neighbourhood and your favourite local businesses

Our neighbourhood has changed a lot in recent years, there have been a lot of new openings and the area is getting nicer and nicer for young couples and families. We like our proximity to green spaces, such as Highbury Fields or Clissold park in Stoke Newington, which is great for an afternoon stroll.

We spend more time in our area now that we are parents, and we discovered many local treasures. Ooh-la-la is a really cool little shop for quirky vintage finds on Holloway Road. Ez&Moss and the Barn are nice spots for a coffee fix. And because we are French, we get our cheese and wine supply from Provisions.

What are your favourite restaurants in London?

Tricky ! There are plenty of choices around us and we love many places. We like Trullo on St Paul’s Road for their pappardelle with beef ragu and Primeur on Petherton Road for a casual dinner with friends, we actually celebrated New Year Eve there. We are also always on the hook for new openings like seafood restaurant Galley on Upper Street.

Our favorite spots for brunch or lunch are Sunday in Barnsbury, Maison d’etre and Peche Mignon. We also like larger, family-friendly restaurants Dishoom and Caravan in Kings Cross.

What are your favourite home decor and furniture shops/brands?

TwentyTwentyOne and Aria in Islington, we literally go there every weekend. We also do a lot of browsing and shopping online at Haus, Skandium and Vinterior.

Hay Dining Table With Mix & Match Vintage Eames Chairs

What is your favourite decorating style and where do you find interior inspiration?

A mix of Scandinavian and mid-century styles. I like browsing for ideas online and could spend my life on Pinterest.

BoConcept Sofa and TV Cabinet

Your favourite furniture or decor pieces?

Our blue-grey Eero Saarinen for Knoll Womb Chair. In addition to being a statement piece, it is incredibly comfortable. We also like our mid-century sideboard, bought at a bargain in a vintage shop.

What is on top of your shopping list for your home now?

A new coffee table. We like the design of our glass table but it is not baby proof at all.

What is the dream piece of furniture or decor you would like to buy?

A photograph from Martin Parr or Dennis Hopper.
