Let me introduce you to our People Squad at Vio.com (Formerly FindHotel)...and I’m singing this on the negative of JLo’s In the club song. In case you don’t know it, press play now…..and dance! Yes, don’t forget to dance. Cause that’s what we do in the squad, we dance! We dance our worries out, we dance when we’re happy and some of us even dance during our meetings — you guessed it, I’m guilty as charged!

It started with Dorrit, our Virtual Assistant. I know what you’re thinking — a virtual assistant, so a robot, right? That’s exactly what every new hires thinks, that we’re asking a robot to support them and answer their questions and everyone is thinking how can that be?!?
Well, let me me break it to you, Dorrit is an actual human being, she is Dutch🇳🇱, she lives in The Netherlands and supports us remotely. Dorrit has been with us for over 5 years and her role and responsibilities varied a lot over time. What she enjoys most are administrative tasks, but besides this she also plays a huge role in bringing our new team members to Amsterdam for their onboarding and even flying them to the company trip! Dorrit’s strongest points are clarity and straight to the point communication. When she’s not booking a ticket or preparing a payment list, you will find her road tripping with her sweet son or BBQ-ing in her garden.
Next one to join the People squad is yours truly. Just like my medium profile says, I am a People enthusiast with a passion for languages, books and travel. Oh, and I love to write! I joined the team as People Operations Manager in January 2020 and you can read more about my beginnings at Vio.com in this article I published last year. I’m originally from Romania 🇷🇴 and have been living for the past 8 years in Amsterdam, which I now call home.
In my current role as People Experience Partner I invest my efforts into the engagement, happiness and empowerment of our people. I love partnering with them and putting them in the spotlight as I believe people should be celebrated at all times. My focus is working on the soft side (how I call it) of the people area — feedback & performance, engagement, happiness, wellbeing, etc. where I think I can bring the most value. Behind everything I do there is discipline, determination, enthusiasm and creativity, but most importantly care! While at work, I like to keep up with the trends and never lose a thing on the people radar, in my personal life I enjoy simple life activities like gardening, baking, reading a good book and spending a lot of time in the nature.
The third member of our team was one of the most awaited ones, our Office Manager — Margit. She is originally from Hungary 🇭🇺 but has been living in The Netherlands for over 20 years. She has a beautiful family she travels with from time to time and she is focused on maintaining a balanced, healthy and happy life.
In short, as our Office Manager, Margit makes sure we get tasty lunches every day, organises amazing team events and celebrations and ensures that every new team members feels welcome and has everything they need on their first day. Her strengths are kindness, modesty and gratitude. In her free time, you will find Margit reading, travelling or practicing sports. She really values wellbeing and makes a point of having a healthy balance in the day to day life.
The most recent addition to our team is Azhar, our People Business Partner who joined us in the beginning of this year. She was born in The Netherlands 🇳🇱 and after a few years of living the expat life in the UK, she relocated back here and is now advising our new hires we bring from abroad on expat matters, ensuring they have the best experience starting a new life in Amsterdam.
As our People Business Partner, Azhar makes no joke when it comes to laws and regulations, having a deep understanding and a real passion for this area. Her fondness of rules and regulations is matched by an overwhelming care for our people. She is the kind and friendly face that every new hire meets right after deciding to join us and she stands out with her empathy, dedication and drive to succeed in everything she does. She also plays a huge role in educating and partnering with our managers to ensure they become the leaders we want them to be; as a trusted partner of the People squad, she goes above and beyond to offer the best support to them.
When not creating the best experience onboarding a new hire on-site or remotely, Azhar spends her time teaching herself mobile photography. What she loves the most is exploring new things through travel and photography. Apart from that, Azhar gives us all an example of humbleness as she participates in charitable projects and is always keen on giving back to the community.
The four of us make for a strong team to cover for all the People related matters at Vio.com. We’re beautifully different from each other and in that lays our strength. We’re not perfect nor we aim to be, but we’re definitely human; so what you can expect from us is to admit when we make mistakes, to be open to constructive feedback, to communicate until we find a common ground and to always go the extra mile for our team here at Vio.com
