Recruiting staff

The guy makes the tent (that’s the expression, but of course the woman is just as good). The right staff is the number-one success factor for your company. But how do you get the best people? Do you look for it yourself or do you leave it to a specialist?

In this blog, I explain why in many cases it is better to keep the recruitment under control. And when you can outsource it better.

“You get what you deserve”

Regardless of how you approach recruitment; only the best employers deserve the best staff. Certainly in the current market, where employees can choose which company they want to work for. So invest time and money to be an attractive employer!

For most employers, the following applies:

if you use no more than 10% of your recruitment budget — and especially your attention (!) — to improve the relationship with your employees, this will pay you back twice. In job satisfaction, in productivity, in retaining staff and ultimately in your future recruitment. Involve your employees in your company and make them proud to work for you. Show them what the impact of their work is on others.

Although salary is still the most important condition for accepting a job, a permanent contract, working atmosphere and content of the work follow closely. Certainly with highly educated people! Although working conditions are certainly important, it is mainly the “soft” parts of a job that really make people happy. Are you looking for enthusiastic and motivated employees and open your front door to them? Turn it around — make sure you are an employer who keeps your employees motivated and enthusiastic and your well-functioning employees will not disappear through the back door!

Go and ask your employees what they like about working at your company (or have an “independent third party” do it) and also ask them what would further increase their satisfaction. You will be surprised at the answers!

Why outsource?

1. Recruitment is a profession

Finding and recruiting staff is not easy. Certainly, in today’s tight labor market, it requires knowledge and skills that may be very far from your core business and that you do not want to have in-house. In that case, call in a specialist! A good recruitment & selection or secondment agency knows very well where to look for the candidate that suits you. Maybe they already have candidates in their network. Remember: poor recruitment guarantees bad staff!

2. Own solutions

Temporary employment and secondment agencies have for years been confronted with a greater demand for personnel than supply. They have often set up creative solutions to meet the demand. Foreign staff, professional solutions and the like. Perhaps it is also an alternative for you!

3. Temporary deployment

For project-based or seasonal work, it is only interesting for a contract or secondment worker to contract. You do not have to recruit yourself and you have no hassle of contracts and administrative processing of salaries. You know exactly what you have lost per hour and the risk of illness, deflation or non-functioning is very limited. Moreover, there are more and more people who consciously opt for varied work. You will find these people mainly at the (specialized) flex agencies.

4. Speed

Good agencies are busy every day with expanding and maintaining their file with job seekers. If you need a new employee quickly, such an agency can be of very good service to you.

Why do it yourself?

However, there are also very good reasons for recruiting yourself. As Geert-Jan Waasdorp shows in his Blog, we continue to talk: “Many organizations, particularly in healthcare, government, education, and business services, spend more on 1 day on the hiring of flex workers (temporary, secondment and zpp’ers) ) than the total budget for recruitment and labor market communication of 2019. “

1. They also have to eat at a desk

To start with the Indian way: a desk must also earn money. There is of course nothing wrong with that, but you must always consider whether the added value is large enough for those costs. Perhaps you can also create something beautiful for 4 recruitment fees.

2. Strengthen your brand

Your employer brand is not separate from your commercial brand. If you do a good recruitment campaign, it will reflect on your brand “on the market”. When outsourcing this by-catch is not for you, but for the recruitment agency! Show that your great company is also a great employer. This way the knife of your recruitment budget cuts both ways

3. I see I see what you don’t see …

A job seeker wants to get a feel for the job and the company before applying. No one can communicate that as well as you can. You can show the workplace, the colleagues that the applicant will be working with. And you can indicate exactly what your company stands for and how you deal with your staff. No agency can do that as well as you!

I hear you ask: “Do I have to add photos of the workplace and stories from colleagues?”. I love it! But a serious candidate will also immerse himself in your company and will find a lot of information about you and the people who work at your company on the Internet or LinkedIn. That also gives a feeling.

4. Only you can deploy your employees as ambassadors

The number 1 source for finding a job is still your own network! More than 20% of Indian people who find a (new) job do this through their own network. And that percentage is rising year-over-year! If you outsource the recruitment, you deprive yourself of the opportunity to recruit good staff through-through.

Use your satisfied employees as ambassadors. Help them to help their network with a cool job. This is not always necessary with expensive referral programs; a really satisfied employee also gives his friends the best!

5. Knowledge can be hired

A good interim recruiter can help your company move forward. And the knowledge you gain also has value after the departure of the recruiter.
