Modern Day Slavery

Every week thousands of children in affluent Western countries sit down in their history classes at school and learn about the terrible inhumanities of slavery from hundreds of years ago.

But this is not something which is confined to the history books of the past. Slavery is very much prevalent here and now in these modern times.

In this speech we first look at the direct instructions given in the Holy Quran on what we should be doing to stop and/or reduce slavery in this World, and we then look back at the shameful actions of people during Britain’s periods of owning and using slaves. We compare them to the World today to show that although we may be a more sophisticated people now, nothing has really changed and we still enslave people primarily so that we can turn a profit.
