People make resolutions at the start of the year and within a few days they have forgotten those resolutions because they do not monitor how well they are keeping up with their resolutions. A Muslim does this on a daily basis. He starts his day with the Fajr prayer where he makes a resolution to be good during the day and then at Zuhr, Asr and Maghrib he monitors his progress ending his day with ‘Isha prayers when he reflects on how he did during the whole day. So if we truly resolved to obey Allah at Fajr every day it is easy for us as Muslims to make great progress towards being really good human beings.
