End of September 2018 in REconomy practitioners, our local to global virtual community of practice (CoP), we started Popping Bubbles experiment. It was envisioned to last 3–6 months and to have three elements: commoning our CoP, bootstrapping resources needed to move forward, and a series of online events, ending with online Open Space event.
Bootstrapping element is about pooling resources among ourselves and about being independent of grantmakers. For 2019, among other ways of pooling resources, we want to build €1,250 monthly budget. It is community-supported bootstrapping. We are not building a market, where flow of resources is transactional. We are building eco-network, a community, where flow of resources is complexly reciprocal.
How are we doing after almost three months? Apparently, not so good. As you can see here, we’re just starting and 2019 is very close. Seems like our message is not coming through or not reaching enough people in our community of practice. And that’s why I need you to keep reading this (4 minutes)… and then to DO something to help.
Let’s start with WHY, as Simon Sinek suggests. Our aim is local to global regeneration of ecosystems on planet Earth. We do that by redesigning economy, locally and globally, and by designing regenerative cultures where we live.
Let’s start with WHO, as Michel Bachmann suggests. We are budding or seasoned entrepreneurs, enterprise ecosystem builders and community organisers. If you are one of us, anywhere on this planet — join our learning conversations and coordinated actions.
Let’s start with WHAT, as Tom Nixon suggests. We are in the process of commoning, building community and making agreements on how to manage shared resources, while simultaneously creating or evolving REconomy commons, i.e. our shared resources. Mostly knowledge and digital commons, but we also support each other in building regenerative, local, real economies and common enterprises that operate locally, but also on translocal (bioregional) and transnational (global) scale. We call this citizen-led economic transition.
What’s the money for?
One answer is: our aim for 2019 is to build €1,250 monthly budget and to keep spending that money on developing REconomy commons and supporting Earth regeneration activities worldwide. The other answer is: we don’t know yet! We are forming REconomy practitioners Core Team that will make spending decisions based on what’s there — we work with emergence…
What YOU can do?
Here are some ideas. Add your own.
Read all this carefully and reflect.
Share this post (with your authentic and honest recommendation) multiple times on your social media channels. Clap it, like it and share it if you’ve stumbled upon it to make it more visible to others.
Write and share your own post about your experience with REconomy practitioners, invite your readers to contribute and point to our Open Collective page.
Join REconomy practitioners mentorship offer as mentor or mentee. Include reciprocity into your mentorship. One way to do it is that both of you start monthly contributions to our Open Collective. This IS about reciprocity. Between two of you (simple reciprocity) and between you, our community of practice and the community of life on the planet Earth (complex reciprocity).
Talk about this with other people (in person, a.k.a “in real life”) and invite them to join REconomy practitioners and to contribute.
Find an organisation or business willing to support us (contact us here about that).
And, of course, you can open our Open Collective page, look to the right-side column, pick one of the REconomy commons contributing options offered and set up your monthly contribution (you can cancel it any time). If any of these do not work for you, look for link at the bottom: Or make a one time donation.
If you are currently contributing, please consider raising a little your monthly contribution. You can do that under Subscriptions in your Open Collective profile.
If you liked what you just read and you would like to help spread the word, I encourage you to click the 👏 button and hold down to 20–50 claps as this will help invitations and calls to action above get more exposure. Also, please share this widely in your social media channels… Thank you in advance! :)
