Now – Easter 2020
The question is asked over and over these days.
Our city, our province , our country , our world is under quarantine due to COVID-19.
My city – Calgary, AB is under siege.
We are the epicentre of the virus. Life as we know it has changed.
In some respects my day to day life looks about the same.
I have living at home with social distancing down to an ‘art form’.
I rarely go out more then twice a week.
I’m a content writer. I mentor people virtually and in real time. I work from home.
Today my lifestyle is by imposition not choice.
The connections with other people have expanded , not decreased.
People I haven’t heard from in years respond to my tweets or posts on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
We laugh together (virtually ).
Sometimes we cry . We share fears. and prayers.
Our ‘new normal’ has let Facebook become all that we ever hoped it would be.
We grieve. We cry. We are afraid.
We want our old normal back.
Now is scary. Now is painful .
We don’t know what tomorrow or next week or next month will look like.
All I have is now and my now is good.
In spite of the -10 C temperature and the snow, I am safe .
I am warm .
In four hours I will celebrate a virtual Easter dinner with my children and grandchildren.
I choose to be in the ‘now’.
I choose to connect with myself and with my God .
I choose to connect with you my virtual but real community. You have become my family and my friends.
How are you , NOW ?
I love you .
