Vket Booth Maker: a Web-Browser based 3D Creation Tool for Vket Exhibitors

--

We admit it — while Virtual Market (Vket) is well known for giving creators the freedom to showcase their works in immersive, free-style booths, setting up an exhibition is sometimes a headache.
The rather-traditional process of setting up a “submission environment” with Unity & Vket’s toolkits, implementing prefabs, Udon scripting, debugging, and so on… has allowed exhibitors to create their exhibition in VRChat at their maximum potential, but is in fact a complicated procedure especially for first-time exhibitors or exhibitors seeking to quickly create their display and work on something else.

That’s where “Vket Booth Maker” comes in— a web-browser based creation
tool designed to make the exhibition process fast, easy, and accessible. With Vket Booth Maker, exhibitors are able to create their booth by combining prefab assets, uploading own images and medias, and completing the entire submission on PC or on smartphone/mobile browsers. No Unity, no fancy installing, no stress.

This tool is available for all exhibitors applied for the Space Exhibition, which can be tried right away from our official website.

Opening the Vket Booth Maker

Click the “Start your Booth creation!” button to open the editing page.

The Booth Maker will open showing a blank room as below.
This will be the place to setup your exhibition.

Editing Your Exhibition

To begin editing your exhibition, click on the house icon on the top right to enter the “edit mode.”

After entering the edit mode, click on the “submission frame” icon to enable a frame showing the exhibition’s boundaries.

All assets must fit in the pink frame, which indicates the space allocated for each exhibitor.

For reference, the Front and Back side of the booth is as labeled on the floor:

Save frequently

Be sure to save frequently while editing, as to avoid data loss in case your PC freezes unexpectedly. When pressing the “Save/Load” folder icon at the top right of the page, the “Save” button will appear.

Up to three exhibition data may be saved as a backup.

Editing the Submission Frame

Click on the corner labeled as “Front”, which a red block will appear.
Using this, the frame’s position can be moved the frame by pulling the block or the arrows displayed on each direction. It is advised to keep a bit of space between the exhibition and the frame for a smoother creation.

You can also hide the frame using the “Remove” button. Note that this frame will be referred later on to submit your exhibition!

Place/Edit items in the booth

Now’s the time to place items in your booth!

The upper limit for the number of polygons in a frame is 100,000 polygons.
When creating your booth, be sure to pay attention to the number of polygons!

You can call up the 3D item you want to place from the “Storage” button at the bottom right of the screen.

When you press the “Storage” button, all the furniture that can be used in your room will be displayed in a list.

Select “Vket Exhibitable” from the dropdown that says “All”. Note that furniture labeled as “N/A for Vket Exhibition” cannot be used for exhibition.

In addition to default items, you can also use your own uploaded “My Items.”
*The upload feature is scheduled to be available starting on the submission start date.

Items purchased through “Vket Booth Marche*” or the former “My Vket” service can be selected from the “My Items” tab ➡ under the “Purchased Items” dropdown.
*Vket Booth Marche is an exhibition and sales event held in 2024 for Booth Maker items.

Click the item to display, which will be placed automatically on the space.

When a 3D item is selected, arrows pointing forward, backward, left, right, and rotation are displayed.
You can move or rotate 3D items by clicking and holding the arrow and dragging the cursor on the screen. Clicking the “rotate” button will switch the rotation to snap by 15 degrees or not.
You can also move by clicking the red circle in the center and dragging the cursor on the screen.

“Duplicate”
Duplicate and display the same 3D item.

“Remove”
Removes the asset from the space.

“Collision ON/OFF”
Select whether to add a box collider (collision) to the 3D item. You can set ON/OFF with a click.

Using Collision

By turning on the collision detection, the player will be able to collide with 3D items.

You can use items to the separate space as walls:

Or, create a small parkour for visitors!

Placing items on top of items

To place small items on bigger items, use the “Place in air” option to move the item’s height.
Select the item you want to place on top and press the “Place in air” button.

3D items can be lifted off the floor and moved vertically using the arrows:

Adjust the height of the floating item to match the height of the shelf, etc. you want to place it on.
Move it horizontally and place the item so that it is on the shelf.

Vket’s booth offers a tall height: have fun using your ideas to use the space above!

How to resize an item

Items uploaded by yourself can have their size changed.
After spawning the item from storage, click “Resize”.

When in Resize mode, a red box appears above the item.
You can zoom in or out by clicking on the red box and dragging the cursor.

Click on the red box and drag the cursor outside the box to make the size bigger.
Items can be resized up to 3 times the original size.

Click on the red box and drag the cursor inside the box to “shrink”.
The smallest size will be one-third of the original size.

Once you are satisfied with the size, click anywhere outside of the item to deselect and exit resize mode.

How to change images

Among the official items, there are some items whose images can be changed.
Make good use of it on booth signs, item descriptions, etc.

Select an item whose image can be changed and press the “Change Image” button.

“Image Change”
You can change the texture of the item and change the image of the picture frame or silage.

When you press the “Change Image” button, the “Current Image” is displayed first.
Proceed to “Select Image” in the bottom center.

The screen for uploading an image will appear.
Select your favorite image and try uploading it.

png/jpg files are supported, and the size will be automatically resized to a square after uploading.

As shown in the image below, a black border will be added and the rectangular image will become a square.

The image will always be square, but if the item is rectangular, such as silage, it will be cropped.

In the case of the previous image, it was cropped like this.

If the original image is square, only the image size will be resized.
The aspect ratio will not change if it is originally square.

When placed in a silage, it will be trimmed like this.

It may seem like a bit of work, but if you set the image properly according to the cropped area, you’ll end up with a nice-looking booth!

Uploading Videos

By placing an item with the video upload feature, a video can be exhibited in the Vket booth!

To begin a video setup, place an item with the Video Upload feature included.

Click on the “Video Settings” button to open a window to designate a thumbnail and video data.

On VRChat, the video will play when the visitor comes close!

Displaying an Avatar

On Vket Booth Maker, one avatar can be exhibited with an avatar pedestal.

The list of available avatars will be shown.
In the “Preset Avatar” tab, avatars provided by My Vket will be shown:

To view your uploaded avatars and purchased avatars, click the “My Avatar” tab!
*Avatar upload feature will open at the beginning of the Submission Period. Thank you for your patience.

Clicking an avatar will spawn the avatar in the space.
By default, the avatar is set to “Walking Around” mode, which should be changed to a “Fixed Pose” to display in an exhibition.
*A “Walking Around” mode avatar will be displayed in the default pose (A-Pose Standing) in the actual Vket exhibition.

Click the “Fixed Pose” button to select from a variety of poses and expressions for your avatar.

“Pose”

*The original VRM data must have a facial expression setup.
*Even if the expression does not appear on My Vket spaces, the designated expression will be shown on VRChat.

*All of the above can be exported to VRChat, which Emote will be played in a loop animation as display.

After designating a pose, place the avatar in a desirable position.

With an avatar display, your booth will become lively!

Setup Avatar Pedestals

VketAvatarPedestals are now available on Vket Booth Maker!
Pre-preparation such as uploading your avatar to VRChat is required. Learn how to setup an avatar pedestal on the article below:

*Article was published during the previous event. Actual procedure may vary from the current event.

Adding Weblinks to Products

There are some 3D items in My Room that allow embedding Web Links. Note however that the embedded weblinks are deprecated, and will not function in the Booth Maker or in the actual Vket exhibition.

As alternative, please use the “BUY” item located under the “Image Display (OK for Vket Exhibition)” category, to lead visitors to your Circle Page in the Vket website as a cushion to the actual product pages.
You can replace the image shown by this item as needed, so feel free to swap it out with any image you want to use, such as showing thumbnails, sales price, etc.
In the actual VRChat venue, this item will be converted to an interactable button to open the exhibitor’s Circle Page.

Submit your Booth

With the import frame selected, press the “Submit” button.

A list of submissions will be displayed, so be sure to check that all items in the booth are displayed.
(If it is not on the list, it will not be submitted)

After this, you will proceed to ``Select the World to Submit’’, but you will not be able to proceed until the Vket submission period starts.
Please wait while practicing creating your booth!

Troubleshooting

Having trouble submitting your booth? Consider the following reasons:

Can’t select item

You may have selected another item or the submission frame.
If there are items on the wall in front of the booth, it is recommended to remove them to avoid unintentional selection.

Outside Submission Period

If the Virtual Market event schedule is not in the Submission Period, Vket Booth Maker cannot be used for submission. Please check the current event schedule if it’s in the Submission Period!

Check Your Exhibition Status

To exhibit/submit in Vket, you must have a valid application and allocated exhibition slot.
To check if you have a valid exhibition slot, please visit your Mypage on the official website!

Check your Vket ID

If you cannot proceed to submission despite after application / exhibition allocation, you may be using a different Vket ID for My Vket / Vket login.
Please check your Vket ID if you are using the same Vket ID:

  1. Vket Account — VketID https://account.vket.com/mypage/user
  2. Vket — VketID https://vket.com/en/mypage/profile *login required

If all of above does not solve your issue, please feel free to ask us on our official Discord at EN → general-questions:

Or, submit your question directly via our contact form!

Last but not least: have fun exhibiting in Vket, and enjoy creating your own exhibitions using the Booth Maker!
