Architecture with Project-Based Learning

This is Ar. Shafayee Shaikh,

A practicing architect and a professor with Vishwaniketan college of architecture graduated in the year 2015.

As an architecture student, I always had a curiosity as to how does education helps in practice when in college we do theory but in reality, it’s always about practical knowledge and experience.

These thoughts helped me shape my way of going through the process and when I joined as a professor with Vishwaniketan college of architecture,

I had this in mind that there might be many students who must be feeling mutually and about their questions in the head which are unsolved.

But these thoughts no longer were thoughts as Vishwaniketan college of architecture has a very good culture of open discussions where all our ideas are welcome for the welfare of students and institutions.

The institution created an online platform amidst pandemics where the students even though at home will directly get real-time knowledge by bringing in guest lecturers from all over the country and abroad to give their share of knowledge and experience to students through the projects they worked on.

The students were overwhelmed with the kind of projects, on-site experience, conceptualization, and all sorts of genres, for example, the difference between hospitality, healthcare, and residential architecture and the experience that these Architects shared, trust me the learning was enormous.

According to my, this is something that every genre of education should follow as this brings about zeal and inspiration in the students to keep doing and more.

Moreover, the transition from education to real tine practice becomes transparent which is of utmost importance as it brings about confidence in them that they are aware of various practices and genres of architecture and the vast horizon that architecture as a profession offers.
