I still prefer reading hard copies over e-books. But they are piling on!

Of all the books I read in 2017, here are my favorites:

  • Fiction: All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, a magical read, immersive and thought-provoking.
  • Non-Fiction: Small Is Beautiful by E.F.Schumacher which very closely resonates with my philosophy of human-centered living
  • Memoir: On Writing by Stephen King — light-humored and engrossing.

Reflections

It was a great year altogether where I finally found my cadence. I guess alternating between fictions and non-fiction was a good overall strategy. Another thing that worked for me this year was to force myself to read till completion — no matter what! This dramatically improved my completion rate. The disadvantage, however, was that I had to slog through some really boring books. In 2018, I am tackling this by researching the book before getting started. Any recommendation is most welcome.
