Use ‘Dark Mode’ and save your eyes (part 2 of 3)
In this part 2, we will look at how to use ‘dark mode’ for facebook and google apps using the Chrome extension, Stylish. Not only do they look nice, but they are easy on the eyes in dark rooms or at night time.
Examples of ‘Dark Mode’
The above are just the usual facebook and google apps being displayed on the web browser. The difference is that there is a dark filter being applied to it so that certain parts of the displays are shown using different colors. Stylish employs many themes, but here, we will look at some of the available dark themes.
How to install the Stylish extension
This works if you are using the Chrome web browser. Here are the steps
- Go to the extensions store https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions
- Search for “Stylish”
- Add Stylish to Chrome
Once Stylish is installed, find and install custom styles
- Go to Stylish store https://userstyles.org/
- Search for website styles, e.g. search ‘facebook dark’ or ‘google dark’
- Select style and install
How to activate/deactivate styles
Once you install Stylish, a button will appear next to the web address bar. When you click on it, there is an on/off switch of the extension, as well as the styles that are installed that are active on inactive. You can directly see the effect of the style. You can also activate multiple styles, and the effects are quite interesting.
