Each year on the first Friday of October, manufacturers across the country open their doors to local communities in honor of Manufacturing Day, a tradition Samsung is proud to carry on in 2017.

Manufacturing Day offers us the chance to tell the story of our roots in product development and of decades of progress in modern manufacturing, research and development, and complex engineering. As such, for the past several years, Samsung’s Austin Semiconductor facility has invited students, educators, and local representatives from the public and business communities to learn about what we build, who builds it, and how.

To us, celebrating Manufacturing Day means shining a light on the incredible ripple effects our employees have had on the city of Austin and its surrounding region: while 3,500 Samsung employees work in our SAS facility, we also have an additional 2,000 to 5,000 people walking through our doors every day to develop and promote our products. Our manufacturing work here allows smaller businesses to thrive the community to grow, and provides unique career opportunities for Texans of all educational backgrounds.

But it’s not just about the numbers. Our workers at SAS are proud that this facility is responsible for the production of Samsung’s semiconductors, the chips and transistors that lie at the heart of electronic devices around the world.

For over 20 years, Samsung has been a proud provider of manufacturing jobs in Austin and throughout the U.S.; and we look forward to growing our workforce, and our impact, in the decades to come.
