Mission: To provide unmatched eye care through a strong service oriented team

Vision: To work towards freedom from preventable and curable blindness

The Sankara Eye Foundation (SEF) is an international organization with a mission to eliminate curable blindness. Started in 1977 by doctors R.V. Ramani and Radha, SEF has reached new heights today in its mission to provide high-value, low-cost care to the rural communities of India. With the support of donating communities around the world, the organization is able to conduct over 100 free surgeries per day in each of its 20 super-specialty hospitals across India. As of May 2015, over 3 million patients have been screened and over 1 million surgeries have been conducted free of cost. A determined team of doctors, optometrists, nurses, and administrators works to ensure that there is constant progress towards the goal of “Vision 20/20 by 2020”.
