The Impact of Grief Coaching With The President of Chasing Rainbows Grief Coaching Services, Dr. Kameika Hinson

Dr. Kameika Hinson recently featured in Kivo Daily, SwagHer Magazine, Sheen Magazine, and We Empower Magazine, started Jeremiah’s Journey to Healing Ministries, a nonprofit organization of which she is the Founder and CEO as a support group in her church but quickly realized that this support group needed to expand beyond the walls of the church. Dr. Kameika’s vision is to be able to provide international support to women who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss through my grief recovery boxes. These grief recovery boxes will include a copy of her latest book and other essentials that she wishes she had after experiencing a miscarriage.

Dr. Kameika Hinson has many roles as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Minister, and Grief Coach. The President of Chasing Rainbows Grief Coaching Services, LLC. Her passion is to teach women who have had pregnancy or infant loss how to cope, heal and flourish through purpose discovery and storytelling.

What does your work entail as a Medical Laboratory Scientist?

Dr. Kameika: Medical Laboratory Scientists are the people behind all of the lab results that are given to you by your doctor. We are the people who work behind the scenes to make sure that the doctors are making an accurate diagnosis. We should be more appreciated than we are because we are the real MVP’s of healthcare.

What impact do you want to make as the President of Chasing Rainbows Grief Coaching Services, LLC?

Dr. Kameika: As the President of Chasing Rainbows Grief Coaching Services, I plan to change the trajectory of how mental health is viewed in the black and brown community. I have a mission of globally changing the stigma that is placed around pregnancy and infant loss but a big part of it is mental health. I grew up thinking that there was something wrong with me if I was mentally exhausted. I don’t want other people to walk around feeling this way. You must take care of your mental health as well as your physical health.

How have your losses and obstacles made you the woman that you are today?

Dr. Kameika: My losses and obstacles have turned me into a strong, educated black woman who does not take “NO” as an answer. They have helped me change my mindset on how things are perceived on the surface. A “NO” is never indefinite but on the contrary, it means “Not right now” or “Not this way.”

We understand that you are a member of the prestigious Book Profits Club. Why did you join and how has the experience been for you so far?

I joined Book Profits Club because I wanted share my story in a book that had my name on the cover but what I got has been mind blowing. Not only did I learn how to write a book that sells, I’ve learned how to leverage my book to get on major platforms and stages and it has caused exponential growth in my business. I will be speaking in South Africa in September and I’ll also be speaking at the Author Allstar’s Conference in December.

What is a super fun fact about yourself that many are not aware of?

Dr. Kameika: I absolutely love to dance. I have always had a passion for dancing but I never wanted to pursue it professionally. Sometimes when I’m feeling sad about my loss, I would put on some music and dance away my grief. It really allows me the chance to express myself and I feel so much better after a good dance session.

What words of encouragement would you give to those who are currently grieving?

Dr. Kameika: I would encourage the grieving to allow themselves to grieve. I have found that so many people don’t allow themselves to grieve for fear of what others will think. This is your journey and you have to grieve before the healing can take place.
