Pluto in Capricorn (2008–2024)

Pluto, also known as the lord of the underworld, represents the dark side and secrets of humanity. He generates an enchanted obsession with things and intensifies everything it touches. Capricorn rules the realm of financial structures, political organizations, and social order, and therefore Pluto in Capricorn represents a compulsive fascination with the matters of power, leadership, money, work, and social status.

Pluto is the planet of crisis, transformation, and destruction. It brings everything shady and corrupt to the surface and crushes it, to allow fresh beginnings, thus he also represents our journey from darkness into light. In the history of Pluto through Capricorn, we have had a series of transformations in banking, politics, empires and dynasties, industrial revolutions, and reformations in social institutions.

Pluto has been influencing our economic structures since it entered Capricorn in 2008–09, leading to a period of severe economic downturn between 2008 and 2013, also known as the 2008 Financial Crisis, resulting in the Great Depression of the 21st Century. Although things seem to have calmed down in the past few years, a series of transits in Capricorn since 2019 has reactivated the catastrophic energies of Pluto, which might lead to another crisis-like situation in 2025.

Saturn in Capricorn (2017–2020)

Saturn entered Capricon in December 2017. Saturn in Capricorn represents a phase of great endurance, conservatism, and discipline. Investment in productivity, reorganizing of boundaries, planning, and building of long-lasting social and economic foundations are a few things that got in the spotlight. Since 2017, there has been an increase in conservative and right-winged thinking in politics and the immigration crisis became a flashpoint for controversy in 2018.

In March of 2019, Saturn met Pluto in Capricorn for the first time, and they began an on-off relationship that will last until December of 2020. This aspect between Saturn and Pluto represents a period where we have had economic bursts and world war-like situations in the past. It describes a moment of big shifts in the economy, government, and politics, accompanied by manipulation and a thirst for power and control.

In January of 2020, Saturn met Pluto in exact conjunction, and since then society has been facing a global-pandemic-apocalypse type situation, followed by fear, isolation, and insecurity. Saturn generates a feeling of dread and anxiety, and Pluto makes everything more intense. Things can calm down between March and July when Saturn briefly enters Aquarius, but before it embarks in Aquarius for good in December, it will join Pluto and Jupiter one more time.

Jupiter in Capricorn (2019–2020)

Jupiter entered Capricorn in December of 2019 and will stay there until December 2020. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, optimism, and belief. Capricorn can represent a period of joy in taking responsibility, strength for overcoming obstacles, and taking action on behalf of our dreams and plans for the future. So on one side, it helps us deal with the current situation a little bit better, providing that tiny bit of hope and positive thinking that we’ve been clinging to.

The other side of Jupiter’s impact is the accelerated expansion and development of things. So the fast spread of the Corona Virus around the world in the past months has Jupiter’s assistance behind its back. And therefore every social, economic, and political happening in the next months will have faster and greater impacts than ever.

Today, on the 4th of April, the conjunction between Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn goes exact for the first time this year, and it will happen again on June 30th and November 12th. This aspect represents an opportunity for problem-solving and a chance to take control. On the positive side, it describes a moment where our actions can have a positive impact on our circumstances, opening the door for a better outcome. But if used maliciously, it can lead to selfishness, greed, ruthlessness, and self-righteousness, which can contribute to trouble from superiors, government authorities, or the law. It all depends on how we use its energy.
