Discover Film X Presets

The Film X library draws from vintage Agfa, Fuji, Ilford, and Kodak films. Members of VSCO X will see the presets at the front of their dock by default — look for the white tiles. If you don’t have Film X, head to the end of your dock to preview any preset. Start a VSCO X trial to get full functionality, including saving and publishing images edited with Film X.

If you want to bring any specific presets to the front of your dock, head to the Organize tab where you can favorite, hide, and manage all of your presets, tools, and recipes.

Fine Tuning with Film X

Character -1.0
Warmth +1.5

Character and Warmth sliders are unique to Film X. Perfect for making quick adjustments, try experimenting with these sliders by tapping a Film X preset once it has already been applied to an image.

Character simulates how film behaves when over or underexposed. More Character usually results in brighter, more vivid color, while less will often result in a more faded, muted tone. Each Character slider reflects the unique visual properties of the particular film.

Warmth emulates shifts in color balance, generally to adjust for different types of lighting. Perhaps the image looks too orange (warm) or too blue (cool). Try using this tool for making quick color adjustments, like enhancing a summer sunset or balancing the tint of an artificial light.

Behind the Technology

We love film because of how it makes us feel.

We wanted to preserve those feelings and create presets that were approachable as much as they were creative. Film X uses SENS, our proprietary image processing engine, to adjust images across multiple visual dimensions. With an unmatched process, our in-house imaging team is able recreate classic film looks with an amazing depth and accuracy. Through VSCO presets and tools, you’re then able to pick up where we left off.

Some of the tools used to create the unique spectral map of each film. This technical process forms the foundation of each Film X preset.
