Countries & Seasons Research

To embark on my little journey of creating packaging for four different countries in different seasons, I had to do a little research, both historically and visually. My research is formatted like lists and key terms so that I can personally remember my thoughts. I have key takeaways at the end of each country.

So the four countries (and seasons) I researched are:

Springtime in Japan

Summer in India

Autumn in Canada

Winter in Switzerland

These are the things I tried to look for:

· Location on a map

· Textures

· Prominent colors

· Prominent typography (or style of typography)

· Cases of national pride (flags, animals, plants, etc)

· Festivals and holidays particular to that place & season

· Main dishes (flavor profiles)

*** My formatting when pasting from Word to my blog was not working, so I am using screenshots from Word.

Summer in India

Baisakhi Festival

Indian Henna & Pattern Design
Flag of Canada

Autumn in Canada

Canada in Autumn
Left: Niagara Falls Right: Cabin
Jasper Dark Sky Festival

Helvetica as National Typeface

Winter in Switzerland

Silvesterchläuse Festival

Based on my current research, I would really like to play around with textures and patterns pulled from the countries. It would be fun to incorporate festivals that are unique to each season in each country so I am going to try and attempt that too.
