Actually, people are searching for ways to help make remote work easier, and that’s not likely to change. More companies and individuals are working remotely than ever before, so the demand for tech solutions is growing exponentially. Many professionals need to send large files and videos to one another. However, they quickly find that email doesn’t do the job. Most email services allow you to send attachments of 25 MB. So, not enough to send a video or a large file. Luckily, in this article, we’ll share many options available that allow you to quickly and easily send large files and videos without sending them via email.

How To Send Large Files And Videos?

Using Cloud Services

Most cloud storage services let you upload files much larger than the email send file limitations. So, upload the video file to your own cloud storage account. If the file is large, it could take a few minutes. Once uploaded, you can right-click on the file and get the share link to paste it into an email.

If you’re using Google Drive and Gmail, Gmail will actually prompt you to upload to Google Drive if you attempt to attach a file that’s larger than the send file limit. Cloud share account limits are larger than email, but they aren’t unlimited. The free storage limits for each of the most popular cloud storage services are:

  1. IDrive: 5 GB
  2. Google Drive: 15 GB
  3. Dropbox: 2 GB
  4. Microsoft OneDrive: 5 GB
  5. Apple iCloud Drive: 5 GB

So long as your video files are smaller than this limit, and you have available space in your account, you should be able to upload your entire file to share with whoever you like.

WeTransfer

WeTransfer is one of the simplest services to use for sharing large files. A few clicks of the mouse and the website will automatically send files for you, and these will be available to download for seven days. Everything is very user-friendly, too, with a step-by-step wizard to walk you through the upload process.

You can transfer up to 2GB on a free account, but for $12 a month (around £9.50) or $120 (around £95) per year, you can upgrade to WeTransfer Plus which allows up to 20GB of file transfers at a time, and 1TB of storage. You will also have the option to set a password to download files — plus you can customize backgrounds and emails if you wish.

How to Send Large Videos Via Email

Sending a large video via email will work, but only to a point. Check the size of the file you’ve if it fits within the limitations of your email service. The email sends limits for the most common email services are :

  1. Zoho Mail: 20 MB
  2. Yahoo: 25 MB
  3. Gmail: 25 MB
  4. Outlook.com: 34 MB
  5. iCloud Mail: 20 MB
  6. ProtonMail: 25 MB

You may be able to stretch this limit a little further by compressing your video file. To do this, right-click the file, select Send To, and select Compressed (zipped) folder. In this example, compressing a 223 KB video only shrunk the file to 223,037 KB. This will be the case with many videos, depending on the video file format. If you find that this is the case with your large video file, you have one last option to send via email. Finally, you can upload the file to a cloud service and email the recipient the link.

Dropbox To Send Large Files

Sign up for this cloud storage service and any files moved into your Dropbox folder can be shared through the use of a web link. Some operating systems let you do this by right-clicking, for others you may need to log into the site and click the Share link. Most importantly, the person to whom you send the link doesn’t need to be a Dropbox user. They can simply download files from the site.

Dropbox has a free tier which gives you 2GB of storage space, but you can earn more by referring friends to use the service — or increase the limit to 2TB by signing up to Dropbox Plus for $9.99 per month. The latter also allows you much greater control of files, including versioning as well as remote device wipe, and you can set a password for downloads.
