A few years back, I shared how changing to a plant-based diet made me feel super healthy and happy. But then, things took a turn for the worse.
I felt amazing, no health issues in sight. But after I went to see my doctor for a routine check-up, I got a message to come in urgently. Usually, that’s not a good sign.
So, I put on a brave face and went to see her.
“Your results are great!” she said, smiling. “But…”
That’s what health professionals do. Pump you up with the good news then immediately deflate your joy with the ominous word “but.” She shared the worrying news about my heart health and said she wanted me to wear a heart monitor for 24 hours.
I’d been eating clean and staying active so was completely confused by this news. Feeling lost, I wished my grandma was there. Grandmas are like hidden superheroes in our lives. They give us advice that lasts a lifetime, filled with love and wisdom.
