How I Learned to Control My Cravings for Unhealthy Food

Why stepping out of your comfort zone is a good thing

We were sharing the usual office banter one Monday morning when the conversation suddenly turned into an argument. The topic had switched to diets and the unending struggle to stay trim.

I made the mistake of adding my thoughts to the conversation.

“Oh, so where exactly have you gained weight? On your little finger?” a colleague spat out.

What she didn’t understand was that being slender doesn’t mean one has a healthy relationship with food. It is not a sign of good health either.

We all have our comfy spots where we feel safe and happy. Mine was sugary snacks plus fizzy drinks to wash down pizzas and burgers. That relationship was never going to end well.

After a few health scares I decided to change my habits. I quickly learnt that trying new things can actually make your life more exciting and healthy!

I tamed my appetite for unhealthy food by venturing beyond what I was used to.

We all love our comfortable routines – like snuggling in a cosy blanket and watching our favorite movie while munching on pizza. It’s nice, but there’s no growth there – apart from belly fat. It maybe…
