The Vita Pictura Estonia team, including General Manager Serj Rimma and CEO Georgius Misjura, attended Latitude59 in Tallinn on 16–17 May, and gained new insight on tech startup culture in the process. The pair not only captured the event on video as an official partner, but also participated in the festivities as an international business. On the floor, they connected with individuals from the other 150+ participating companies and witnessed the attendees’ innovative and collaborative spirit firsthand. The event had 111 speakers and visitors from 58 countries with 360 startups from 33 countries.

Vita Pictura’s partners DeltaHeroes, a B2B matching company and one of the sponsors for the conference, kindly matched Vita Pictura with Latitude59. In turn, Vita Pictura completed the highlight video in record time; in one day, participants could already watch the video on the event’s numerous screens. Vita Pictura and DeltaHeroes are looking forward to continue close collaboration in the field, as the Latitude59 experience proved to be one of the best.

The event celebrated the expertise of an array of panelists, as well as pitching competitions, prizes, and more, with an intention to propel startup culture.

The participants and presenters were diverse, but they all shared an intention to propel startup culture, and represented dozens of countries from around the world. This was especially made possible by Vita Pictura editor Kaupo Kuusemäe, who himself has IT background and is involved in a media startup project Finisher.TV.

The conference itself attracts people from all over the world, and Asia was strongly represented this year with 131 visitors. Among these delegates was the Mayor Soichiro Takashima of Fukuoka, known widely as the Startup City in Japan. Even with the global Nonetheless, the conference has the usual cozy atmosphere. The atmosphere of Latitude59 was a trendy party vibe that married creativity and fun, with a focus on launching new ideas into fruition.

Noah Raford, the Chief of Global Affairs & Futurist-in-Chief at Dubai Future Foundation, spoke in the session entitled “Entrepreneurial Values and State Funding”, flanked by Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid, CEO & Founder of Korelya Capital Fleur Pellerin, and by Founders managing partner Eric Lagier.

Raford said, “I think that the idea of offering people who care about what they’re doing, who know what they’re doing, who want to change the world, a support to do that, turns out to be quite easy; the rest is details.”

Later in the event, Raford turned from executive to DJ and entertained patrons of the Latitude59 afterparty, which took place in the city’s hip Telliskivi neighborhood. President Kaljulaid also approached the discussion in a relaxed but poised manner, further cementing Estonia’s prominence on the tech industry’s global stage.

The afterparty of Latitude59 was something out of this world. It was held at Maakri district, Tallinn’s central area, usually known for its banking sector. This time, however, the neighborhood was lit up and full of music. The event brought people further together, away from the business suits and into a less formal, but still purposeful, environment. The central piece of the afterparty was the band playing in a cage.

Latitude59 CEO Maarja Pehk expressed her excitement at the official Vita Pictura after-event video, noting that it expressed the event’s true colors: “I’m sharing this video again, because I just can’t get enough of watching it!”
