Welcome to the Zero Gas Layer-1!

Imagine you just landed on a foreign planet and everything here is new, wild, different but filled with so much potential, what would you do next? You discover all its secrets and you start building and taking advantage of all it has to offer. That’s exactly how we want you to feel about discovering Vite.

Vite is a lightning-fast blockchain where transactions incur zero gas. It is the world’s first DAG-based smart contract platform. Vite means fast in French but it is more than just fast, it achieves the perfect balance between security, scalability and fast settlement, all at zero gas fee to the users.

Combining all these attributes together, Vite really stands out from the rest of the layer1 chains. The question is what would you do with it and where do you start.

The #0GL1 Hackathon is our 5th vuild season. It is the perfect opportunity to discover all the basics of the network and create something that could be further iterated on and even adopted in the future.

Our planet’s future is in your hands. Now, it’s time to vuild!

FAQs

How do I participate in the hackathon?

Go to Grants Round 14 Hackathon and log in with your GitHub account to participate.

How is the Vite chain different from chains like Ethereum and do I need to learn a different computer language to participate in the hackathon?

In terms of smart contract programming, Vite is very similar to Ethereum. The biggest difference is Solidity++ (Vite’s smart contract language) which is asynchronous compared to Solidity. You should have no problem fitting in if you are a skilled Solidity developer. However, to reduce the possible learning time, it is highly recommended you read through the technical documentation before the event.

What are the developer environment requirements?

The environment is not limited. Mac + VS Code is recommended but you can use any programming environment and IDEs you are familiar with. If you are writing smart contracts, we provide a Soliditypp VS Code extension which can be found in the Extension marketplace to help you debug/deploy the contract.

Where are Vite’s technical documents?

All technical documents can be found here.

Do I need to give a demo for the product that I have built?

Yes. It is a requirement.

I have some technical questions to ask the Vite devs, where can I interact with them directly?

You can go to our official Discord and post your questions in the hackathon channel.
