Introducing: Vite Portal
Vite Labs first released the Full Node Rewards Program back in April 2021. With a steady number of 1000+ full nodes on the Vite chain that are distributed in 15 countries around the world, the total reward sums up to 9,565,744 VITE. Full nodes add an extra layer of stability and security to the Vite network by making it more robust.
However, the current full nodes aren’t fully usable yet, because they do not all provide RPC access to the community. This means they have not been made available to allow users of Vite App and other dApps to connect to the Vite network.
In order to incentivize full nodes to turn on RPC access, Vite Labs is building a full node monitoring service called Vite Portal (architectural schematic below). This service can monitor whether full nodes are providing reliable RPC access and send rewards accordingly. Through this incentive program, the number of usable Vite full nodes will grow. Ahead of the new program, we will also be sunsetting the existing full node incentive program.
Updated Full Node Rewards Program Timeline
October 18, 2022 — Reducing FullNode.Pool votes from 10M to 5M
November 2022 — Slash the remaining 5M votes, and revoking subsidizing incentives from the Vite Foundation
December 2022 — Initial release of Vite Portal, increasing Foundation votes based on the number of full nodes
Current Full Node Rewards Program
As a refresher, the current full node rewards are block rewards from a Vite Labs sponsored SBP (Snapshot Block Producer) called FullNode.Pool:
- FullNode.Pool currently receives 10M votes from the Vite Labs foundation, plus another 11M votes from the required collateral of full node operators. FullNode.Pool distributes all block rewards (including block creation reward and voting rewards) to full nodes.
- Besides the above rewards, the Vite Foundation currently subsidizes the daily pool rewards on a 1:1 ratio basis as additional incentive.
