Solidity++ Updates
Vite CEO Charles Liu shared in his 2021 Year-end Reflections post that we will share regular updates on our upgrade of Solidity++ from 0.4 to 0.8. Here is a new section with all the updates about these upgrades.
As a reminder, this Solidity++ upgrade will:
- Make developing contracts with it easier
- Have more powerful features
- Make it simpler to port solidity Dapps
- Provide clear and comprehensive documentation
Here are our latest Solidity++ updates:
- [go-vite] Fix
RETURNDATASIZE
/RETURNDATACOPY
instructions: https://github.com/vitelabs/go-vite/issues/553 - [go-vite] Add async revert functionality: trigger a failure callback transaction after executing
REVERT
instruction (similar to the refund mechanisms on Vite). - [go-vite] Push a success flag into the stack when returning from an external call (as EVM does) to enable
try/catch
andrevert
syntax. It only affects sync calls (by executing aCALLBACKDEST
instruction). - [solppc] Enable try call (an external call in try statements).
- [solc-js] Publish 0.8.1-alpha.2 to NPM.
- [soliditypp-examples] Update solppc and gvite, add examples for
try/catch
andrevert
. Note: try/catch is only working for sol sources but not allowed in solpp. Apromise
like syntax must be introduced to enable async try/catch in Solidity++. This will be implemented in future versions.

A Story Called VITE
We want to send a special shoutout to a longtime member of our #ViteFleet, CPCLinoCrypto who penned a piece called “A Story Called VITE”, which talks about the history of Vite and how he’s seen our ecosystem over the years. It’s a great read for anyone nostalgic about Vite’s early days as well as for people interested in understanding the potential of our project. For the original Spanish version of the article, click here. Many thanks to Erick for the translation.
XLM Now On ViteX
We’ve had not just one, but two new coin listings during the first two weeks of 2022 on ViteX thanks to community gateway darling ViNo, and this one is pretty stellar. That’s right, Stellar also known as XLM can be traded as pair with VITE, USDT, BTC, and ETH on ViteX.
PAW Now On ViteX
Thanks to one of the newest gateways on Vite — XGate, you can now trade PAW on ViteX with the PAW / USDT Pair. PAW is a decentralized digital currency that offers near-instant settlement (<1 sec) and energy-efficient transactions. It’s also building on a new reward model that allows for the rapid growth of the network while using TGS for consensus. Well done.
