Our take on workplace diversity

At VivaDrive.io we are located in Poland, the most homogenous country in the EU, where foreign citizens making up just 0.3 percent of the population.

Myself, I spent more than 10 years living abroad and working for international corporations and startups. I only had a professional career abroad, working with people from different cultures and religions. Diversity is in my DNA. When I came came back to Poland in 2018 this population homogeneity was challenging to me. That is why when we created VivaDrive in 2019 we decided to build a diverse and inclusive culture in our company. We know that many tech startups struggle with this and many then end up with a ‘white & male &e ngineer’ team. I do not say it’s wrong but a diverse team might be a real asset in your company.

Here are few things that matter:

1) Building a diverse and inclusive company is a good business and leads to better financial performance

2) A diverse teams lead to higher employee engagement — team that feels valued and included is a group that will not only perform at the top of their game and be happy to do so, but they will also be brand ambassadors of the company. 3) Diverse teams help startups reach the customers of tomorrow. People of different age, gender, from different cultures come helps you up with the products of tomorrow — i.e., products that will benefit a diverse range of people with different needs.

4) Helps you reach diverse markets. With cultural diversity comes different languages and even different ways to speak the same language. English is the global language and a big part of the global workforce speaks it natively or to a high level. Covering many languages will come in handy with actions directed towards a specific target and/or country, and there will be no chance to get lost in translation. That is who we do that in VivaDrive. Employees from different countries enable us understand the local culture, customers needs and all the local specificities.
