Fifteen years of transforming data for global impact.
When we first opened our doors in 2009, we had a bold vision to harness the power of data visualization to drive meaningful change in the world. Now, as we celebrate over 15 years of impact, we’re amazed by what that vision has become.
For a decade and a half, we’ve been privileged to work at the intersection of sustainability, technology, and human-centred design. Our journey has crossed continents and sectors into partnerships with organizations that share our commitment to creating a more sustainable world.
A legacy of impact.
The numbers tell part of our story: nearly half of our projects have created change at the country level, while 18% have crossed borders to foster international collaboration. But the real impact lies in the stories behind these figures.
From the Amazon to Africa, Asia, and beyond, our work has gone from local to making a difference in every continent, with 36% of projects having a global impact.
Take, for instance, our work with Global Forest Watch. Indigenous communities in Peru used the GFW satellite alert system to reduce deforestation by 50% in just one year. With ReFED, data-driven solutions helped save $2 billion annually by reducing food waste by 14.8% — with success stories ranging from Bob’s Red Mill’s 70% waste reduction to supermarkets finding innovative ways to repurpose 20,000 pounds of chicken.
Through the Global Mangrove Watch, we helped provide accessible data that UNEP-WCMC used to understand decades of mangrove forest changes, highlighting their vital role in climate mitigation. In Ecuador, our work with the Half-Earth Project supported the Path of the Jaguar initiative, helping protect 213,000 hectares of tropical forest through strategic use of species data and geospatial analysis.
Your story is part of our story.
These impacts aren’t our achievements — they’re shared successes with our partners, clients, and the communities we serve. As we reflect on these 15 years, we recognize that there are countless more stories of impact waiting to be told.
Have we been part of your journey? Whether through direct collaboration or by using one of our platforms, we want to hear your impact story. How has our work together contributed to empowering people, safeguarding nature, or combating climate change? Your experience could inspire others and help shape the future of data-driven sustainability solutions.

Looking forward.
As we celebrate this milestone, we’re not just looking back — we’re looking ahead to the next 15 years of innovation and impact. The global challenges we face are more pressing than ever, but so are the opportunities for data-driven solutions and collaborative action.
We’ve witnessed a clear shift in how change happens: community-driven initiatives have replaced siloed efforts, and organizations increasingly form coalitions to tackle complex problems. Indigenous knowledge is now rightfully included in decision-making processes (albeit there is a way to go in meaningful inclusion), and cross-sector collaboration has become more of the norm than the exception.
This shift towards collaboration over isolation, towards sharing instead of duplicating efforts, reflects our participation in a broader global movement. It’s one reason why we value the scale of our project portfolio — from national initiatives to cross-border collaborations and global mapping. By embedding openness and knowledge-sharing into everything we do, we’re working to ensure that data and insights benefit not just a few but everyone.
While artificial intelligence and emerging technologies offer new possibilities for data analysis and visualization, technology alone isn’t the answer. What we need most is committed action and accountability. The new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) due this year will help determine whether we can maintain the 1.5°C target.
We’re seeing ambitious commitments across multiple fronts. The 30x30 initiative aims to protect 30% of Earth’s land and oceans by 2030 — a goal we’re proud to support through our work with SkyTruth. The Glasgow Leaders’ Declaration targets ending deforestation by 2030, while many countries pursue their 2040 net-zero targets, which you can track on Climate Watch.
These milestones aren’t just dates on a calendar — they represent real opportunities for action. Our role is to ensure that data and technology serve these commitments by making progress visible, actionable, and accountable.
