In the past few years, the Mobile industry has remarkably changed. In 1970’s first generation (1G) mobile was introduced which can only do calls. Then came the 2nd generation. Which supports text messaging and calling. Then the 3rd generation mobiles with high data transmission rate, and multimedia support. The 4th generation supports VOLTE. And the latest technology is the 5th generation (5G), in which the user will experience very advanced features and technology as compared to the previous generation.

How SoC is related with 5G Technology?

The cellphone’s hardware consist of different components like processor, RAM, CPU, DSP, etc. SoC have been latest designed single IC chip processor which are currently being used in latest cellphones’ technology.

WHAT IS SoC?

SoC integrates all the components into a single chip. It contains analog, digital, mixed signal and other radio frequency functions all lying on a single chip substrate. Today, SoCs are very common in electronics industry due to its low power consumption.

Embedded system applications make great use of SoCs. An SoC consumes very less power and the size of the chipset is very small i.e., the size of the chipset is in nanometers. Thus an SoC accommodate very less space. SoC provides faster execution and due to high speed processor and memory.

Conclusion

In this article I’ve covered some information related to 5G technology and introduction of SoC. VLSI and 5G technology have come together to bring new research to the world. SoCs will bring new processors, GPU, and more number of cores in the cellphones.

Stay tuned for more articles.
