This article will highlight this awesome artistic project taking place right now in the VM space. The latest free NFT Airdrop for Vending Machines NFT — The VM Comic Book Issue #1 “LFG” has been airdropped to VMNFT holders!

The article will also display the talented winners of the VM art contest recently held in the Discord.

BIG shout out to the comic book artists! Sending all good vibes your way.

After weeks of drooling anticipation, the 4th free NFT airdrop from the fine folks at Vending Machines NFT has arrived — The VM Comic Book Issue #1! This airdrop is consistent with their innovative airdrop “vending” strategy that continues to reward VM NFT holders.

This latest NFT drop is something fresh and different — it’s a full 10 page comic book issue split up into three different NFTs for our collecting and reading pleasure. It’s definitely one of the more unique NFTs seen on Avalanche and perhaps the whole world.

First of all, check out the collection here:
https://nftrade.com/assets/avalanche/0xe52bbe513922ed6e7efa7cc67f9f8452bbd3cc3d

This is the official link. It’s brand new so it’s not verified yet. You can be sure the link I just shared is the only legit NFTrade marketplace. I checked my own wallet today for my VM NFT and I have received issue #1, which contains pages 1–3. So, I would buy the others on the secondary market if I wanted the full collection. And this is only the first issue of more to come!

As of this writing (16 March 2022) you can see the collection is a totally fresh airdrop

So take a moment to check out the collection on NFTrade. You can filter by page number — there are 3 different NFTs. The first is pages 1–3, then pages 4–7, and finally 8–10.

You’ll notice these are large, high quality images. To view them correctly, (if you’re on your computer rather than your phone), first select one of the NFTs from the collection, then click on the image to enlarge it, then right click it and select “copy image address” and open this in a new tab. You will have to play with your magnification options to zoom in to read it.

I’ll give a quick plot synapsis here, but to read the full issue I encourage you to check it out yourself. For your convenience, I have provided the full images in links here. I recommend opening them using a monitor for the high-res image because this imgur file doesn’t seem to properly display it on mobile.

Pages 8–10 https://i.imgur.com/T5zkbvb.jpg

It starts with a young man in the back of the bus playing a difficult mobile game on his phone. The man is disillusioned with the world and seems jaded and depressed in his worldview.

An old bearded man walks on the bus, seemingly homeless and unkept. Others make fun of his looks and his alleged bad body odor, and our main character is enraged by this injustice, claiming he is so sick and tired of scammers and bullies knocking people down further when they’re already in a low point. He quickly gets up to stop the bullies from tripping the old man, but he himself trips and gets laughed at by the multitude.

The old man confidently helps him up and thanks him for trying to help. He tells the young man that his intention to help was pure and kind, and that he will be rewarded for this action. The old man installs metamask on his phone and puts on something called “VMN” and says to use it at the old vending machine at the young man’s bus stop, stating the old adage that one shouldn’t judge books by their covers.

The young man doesn’t believe it at first, but after he scans his phone to the Vending Machine, he is warped into some kind of fantastical digital metaverse where he witnesses ancient-looking Asian soldiers fighting lizard people. He says the lizards are bullies and he can’t stand bullies so he tries to stop the fighting. He is brimming with strength and confidence and seems like he has found his purpose.

But he realizes that fighting is not the answer and that diplomacy and reason and cooperation is more fruitful than war. So in the next scene we see the ancient soldier and the lizard man negotiating peace terms.

Later on, he throws a pizza party for some developer and hacker friends and recruits them to fight in the “meta income war” against the evil Lizard King.

Now, Issue #1 is completed and Issue #2 is already announced for next month!

I just included a few screenshots of the comic book — make sure you check out the entire issue yourself!

I truly enjoyed the style of this comic book. It is an awesome first entry in the series. I love how this story is a sort of loose metaphor for the things we see developing in our world, namely conflict, income inequality, Web 3.0 development, scammers and bullies, and especially how the story hints at the answer: working together to provide accessible, scalable solutions to some modern problems facing humanity that will help make the outdated, ineffective, and corrupted systems obsolete. This is part of the greater cryptocurrency movement, which is to provide a means for people to exercise financial independence outside of the current rigged financial systems.

The first issue was awesome and I’m excited for the next one!

VM NFT art contest winners!

Three winners were chosen to receive monetary rewards in Avax for their creative contributions to the VM NFT space. 1st place received $150 worth of Avax. 2nd place was $100 and 3rd place was $50.

The first place winner is by thisisangkor#4375 and beautifully demonstrates three really lovely vending machines!

Here is the video link which will take you to the VM NFT Discord Channel.

Or check out some screenshots here:

Awesome work!

2nd place is The Shadiest Slime#3556 with a Monty Python and the Holy Grail parody! This is one of my all-time favorite films, and it’s super fun to see it combined the VMNFT. Here is the full gif:

Brilliant!

3rd place award goes to SleeplessTiger#6821 for his wonderful Vending Machine on the moon aesthetic

It’s a good vibe!

It’s awesome to see all the talented creative people getting involved in this cool project. Although the main focus usually goes on the developers, the art is basically just as important. It’s like if you played a trading card game like MTG with only rules and no art or colors — nobody would play it. You need the art! It’s the left brain right brain thing. The Yin to the Yang.

Vending Machines NFT are on the best blockchain network — Avalanche. Q1 is coming to a close with some huge things happening on this network. There’s amazing projects and even more amazing people behind it. Go check out VM NFT on Twitter and get involved! The party is just getting started. ^_^
